FIDA Kogi Hosts Interschool Debate to Commemorate Children’s Day 2025
On May 28, 2025, the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Kogi State Branch, organized an engaging interschool debate in celebration of this year’s Children’s Day. The event took place at the Bar Center in Lokoja and commenced at 10:00 a.m.
Two schools—GYB Model Science Secondary School and Eagles Academy—participated in the debate. After a highly intellectual and stimulating contest, GYB Model Science Secondary School emerged victorious.
To recognize their excellence, the winning team received a ₦100,000 cash prize, while the runner-up, Eagles Academy, was awarded ₦50,000. These prizes were aimed at promoting academic excellence and healthy competition among students.
Other schools, including Magesty International College, FUL Secondary School, and Baptist High School, were also in attendance to observe and support the initiative.

The debate aimed to mentor and empower the next generation of leaders through advocacy, education, and public discourse—in alignment with FIDA’s mission to promote child development and legal awareness.
The program was a resounding success, fostering intellectual growth, confidence, and leadership skills among participating students.
Sensitization Visit to NSCDC Kogi State
FIDA Kogi Branch, carried out a sensitization Campaign on the role of law enforcement agencies in the enforcement of the provisions of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law on the 5th June 2023 for Officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps in Lokoja Kogi State.
It was an interactive session and the Commandant was grateful for this initiative.

Visit to Chief Judge of Kogi State
On the 25th of October 2022, FIDA Kogi paid an advocacy visit to the Honourable Ag. Chief Judge of Kogi State. The branch advocated for a practice direction to expedite trials of gender-based violence cases. The Hon. Ag. Chief Judge charged FIDA Kogi to do more in the area of Sensitization against Gender based Violence, particularly at the Grass root. He also pledged his unwavering support for FIDA Kogi and all her programs and activities.
Partnership with Kogi National Directorate of Employment
FIDA Kogi on the 10th of August 2022, Commenced a partnership with the National Directorate of Employment and the Kogi Boss Mall Abubakar Zakari in line with FIDA Nigeria’s strategic goals on building partnerships that will enhance our mission of promoting, preserving and protecting the rights of women, especially the indigent.
School Sensitization
Fida Nigeria Kogi state branch on the 25th July 2022 in line with Fida Nigeria, mandate in protecting and preserving the rights of children went on a sensitisation lokongoma primary and secondary schools lokoja Kogi state. The pupils were taught about self-esteem, rape, drug abuse, the need to confide in their parents, dangers of pornography and drug abuse. The management of the school appreciated FIDA for selecting the school to benefit from the sensitization.
