STAND-OUT ACTIVITIES SINCE INCEPTION:
FIDA Taraba joined the world in commemorating the Annual Children’s Day on 27th May 2023 with a visit to the Children’s Ward Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo. Highlights included a stop at the CMD’s office, where the aim & objective of FIDA was enumerated by our amiable Chairperson Barr. Fyafa Hosea Ibi. It is hoped by the branch that this visit will serve as a bridge to a good working relationship with FMC as it pertains to protecting, promoting & preserving the rights of Women & Children.
The branch with the generous support of members of our Matron H.E Barr Anna Darius Ishaku & Chairperson Emeritus Barr. Ifeoma Ohayindo- Abgwachukw made gift presentations to Children through various sections of the Ward of the FMC, Jalingo. We are grateful to be of service.
International Women’s Day 2023
FIDA Taraba in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, NCWS, Other NGOs &CSOs commemorated Int’l Women’s Day, 2023. At Tim Royal Conference Hall Jalingo. Impactful presentations on online marketing, Nigeria’s e-naira/wallet, tips on Cyber security in bank transactions, and available legal frameworks in addressing Associated criminality were made by CBN, AMON & other experts in English & Translation in Hausa made the hall meeting engaging as participants were drawn from various women groups within the state.
Partnership with the Governor’s wife through her foundation to produce note books and distribute to primary and secondary schools within the Jalingo metropolis in 2008.
Outreaches and rallies commemorating the Intl women’s Day, Childrens day with other stake holders such as NAWOJ, Mins. Of Women Affairs and Child development in 2010
The first FIDA WEEK commemorated with a FIDA Day on the 4th Febuary 2016 and a dinner in honour of Her excellency Barr. (Mrs.) Anna Darius Dickson.
School outreaches between 2016-2019 on topics such as Abduction, rape, kidnapping, election violence and domestic violence.
Various series of T.V programmes sensitizing the public on topics that range from Domestic abuse, widowhood practices, types of marriages and their effects, wills etc in 2018-2019
Commemoration of the “16 Days of Activism” against gender-based violence on the 29th November 2017 and 2018 with a seminar inviting all stakeholders and women civil society groups especially to observe the themes for those years.
A one day workshop on the Implementation of the Adminstration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, to FIDA, NBA, magistrates, Judges and other stakeholders on need for its domestication and implementation.
Commemoration of the Intl Womens day on 8th March 2019, with the theme “ Balance for Better”
Observation of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the theme “Health for justice, Justice for health” on 26th June 2019 with visitation to schools and sensitization on abuse of drugs
