Day Against Trafficking In Persons
In sensitizing the public about the danger of trafficking humans, the FIDA Oyo State Branch collaborated with NAPTIP (National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters) Oyo State Branch, and NACTAL (Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour) Oyo State Branch by taking a walk From Elekuro to Orita today, the 31st July, 2023.
International Women’s Day 2023
To celebrate the 2023 International Women’s Day, FIDA Oyo State ably led by Mrs. Olusola Sulayman organized a Seminar with the theme: PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND HER TECH SPACE.
The speaker of the topic was Hon. Justice Folabimpe B. Segun-Olakojo, who encouraged the branch not to “bring discrimination against oneself and makes sure one holds one’s grounds.

The Chairperson FIDA (Nigeria) Oyo State Branch Olusola Sulayman, led a delegation to visit the legal Icon, Aare Afe Babalola,SAN, at his base in Ado Ekiti. The visit was ostensibly to apprise the esteemed SAN, about our plans as well as to seek his support towards the event, which is Themed: Work, Life, Balance, The Demands On The 21st Century Human.
As was expected, it was a thoroughly wholesome experience. The team drank from Aare Afe Babalola’s deep well of experience. It was easy to see why the SAN, is one of the most accomplished lawyers in the country. At his age, he still puts in a commendable shift at the office.
Aare Afe Babalola’s generosity is legendary and FIDA,Oyo State, are first hand beneficiaries. A truly wholesome experience.
Courtesy Visit To The Attorney General And Commissioner For Justice, Oyo State, Ibadan.
FIDA Oyo State Branch ably led by her Chairperson, Mrs Olusola Sulayman paid a courtesy/familiarization visit to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oyo State, Ibadan on 6th August 2022.
The visit also aimed to strengthen the synergy in the fight against the high incidence of female genital mutilation in Oyo State which according to National data ranks fifth. Oyo State can improve through collaboration in advocacy and sensitization of Women and Youth.
The team was well received by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Oyo State Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo SAN. He promised to partner with FIDA Oyo in helping to fight against norms that affect the right of women and children.
Courtesy Visit To The Commissioner Of Police, Oyo State
On the 22nd of July 2022, FIDA Nigeria Oyo state branch led by the Chairperson, Mrs Olusola Sulayman, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State to felicitate with him on his new appointment as the Commissioner of Police of the state and to also register the displeasure of FIDA Oyo on the rape incident that occurred at Federal Government Girls College, Oyo. FIDA Oyo, In furtherance of it’s goals to promote the rights of women and children, A Petition against the alleged perpetrator of the crime was tendered.
The Commissioner of Police promised that justice will prevail.
FIDA Oyo Commemorates International Children’s Day 2022
FIDA Oyo on the 27th of May, 2022 sensitized the Pupils of Command Children School in Ibadan on the subject of Child Abuse to commemorate Children’s day 2022. The children were educated on the effects of abuse and steps to take when violated. the children responded by singing a song as to what their reaction will be when touched by an abuser. FIDA Oyo has made it part of it’s duty to ensure that children are aware of the Violence Against Person’s Prohibition Law in Oyo State.
The Branch believes that the decay in the society can be prevented if children are properly educated/ sensitized on the dangers of every form of abuses; (domestic violence and rape e.t.c)
16Days of Activism 2020
FIDA Oyo commenced her 16 days activism against gender-based violence by paying an advocacy campaign to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the SCID Iyaganku Ibadan, where the FIDA Nigeria statement was issued, had a discussion on the increased rate of the GBV cases in the state and the way forward.
FIDA Oyo Hosts a Stakeholders’ Meeting on the Administration of the Criminal Justice Law
FIDA Nigeria, Oyo state branch with support from MacArthur Foundation organized a joint stakeholders meeting on the 15th of Oct 2020 with the Bar, Bench, Police Force and Correctional Services to review the provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) of Oyo state and they highlighted the challenges faced by each stakeholder in implementing the ACJL, as well as creating an environment to enable networking to ensure effective implementation.
