Due to the increased rate of rape and GBV in Nasarawa State and how the Police handle such cases. FIDA Nasarawa, embarked on Courtesy visits to relevant stakeholders to ensure that these issues are properly addressed.
Training of Paralegals
On the 14th of December, 2020, FIDA Nasarawa commenced Paralegals training in Akwanga LGA. The training was aimed at building the capacity of community paralegals and creating awareness of SGBV as it affects the community. Part of the training included an exposition of the VAPP Act in its simplified version to enable, paralegals to understand, and relate adequately to its provisions towards responding to cases of SGBV in the community.
16 Days of Activism 2020
FIDA Nasarawa on an Advocacy visit to Her Excellency the wife of the Governor to discuss on partnering with her office in the fight against Gender-Based Violence in the State.
In commemoration of the 16days of activism 2020, FIDA Nasarawa in collaboration with the SDGs carried out sensitization in four schools educating the students on their rights and the need to speak out when they are assaulted, raped or abused.
