Empowering Future Legal Leaders: FIDA Student Mentorship & Leadership Program Recap
FIDA NIGERIA Benue Branch, Benue State University Student Chapter, and The Law Students Association of Nigeria Benue State Chapter for an insightful mentorship and leadership program.
Led by seasoned legal practitioners, our recent session focused on equipping aspiring lawyers for success. Topics included professional development, ethical practices, team building, and effective leadership.
Participants gained valuable insights and practical skills to thrive academically and professionally. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with all trainees receiving Certificates of Participation.
The program also marked the inauguration of new leaders and emphasized the importance of punctuality in the legal profession.
In conclusion, the FIDA Student Mentorship and Leadership Training Program was a success, empowering students to become effective leaders and advocates. Join us in shaping a brighter future for the legal profession and society.
FIDA Benue Empowers Benue State University Students with Leadership & Mentorship Training
Last Friday, FIDA Benue took a proactive step in fostering leadership skills among students by organizing a transformative Leadership and Mentorship Training session for the Benue State University Students Chapter. Through engaging discussions and guidance from experienced mentors, participants delved into essential topics such as effective communication, decision-making, and goal setting. This initiative reflects FIDA Benue’s commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and catalyzing positive change within the community.
International Day of Zero tolerance for FGM
FIDA Benue on the 6th of Feb 2023, participated in a Radio discussion to mark the International Day of Zero tolerance against FGM. Assistant Publicity Secretary Cleopatra Atsor represented FIDA Benue on the live phone-in programme. The radio programme featured a medical practitioner, the CEO of a Charity based organisation and FIDA Benue. where issues concerning the girls’ health, the dangers of FGM were discussed
16 Days of Activism 2020
To flag of the 16 days of activism, FIDA Benue in collaboration with Office of the 1st Lady gave a Talk on Addressing Harmful Traditional Practices
The tenure of the 1st Chairperson Justice M. N Igbetar established the FIDA branch in Benue State after spirited efforts. The branch is the 8th branch that was established in the country. Her key achievements include the establishment of Legal Aid Council in Makurdi on the 16th December 1989 amongst others.
1999-2007
Mrs Christy Anagende now the Solicitor General of the state and Permanent Secretary took over the leadership of FIDA Benue.
ii On the 24th August 2001 – workshop to enhance and promote the way for women and children amongst others.
iii. Under her leadership, FIDA Benue was actively involved in development programs and projects including HIV/Aids, Women and Children Rights, Gender-related programmes, a lot of media outings and other life impacting programmes. She also became a Life Member of FIDA International along with several others.
