FIDA Joins in Prosecution of Ese Oruru’s Abductors

After a successfully securing the release of Ese Oruru from her abductors, the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA is set to prosecute all those involved in the alleged kidnap and abduction of 14-year-old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa to Kano State.
Speaking with journalists in her office, the Bayelsa State Chairperson of FIDA, Barrister (Mrs.) Dise Ogbise-Erhisere said FIDA is ready for the prosecution of all suspects in the kidnap and abduction of the teenage, Ese Oruru.
According to her, Ese Oruru is safe in Bayelsa State under police protection while her alleged abductor, Yunanus alias ‘Yellow’ has been detained by the Bayelsa State Police command awaiting criminal prosecution.
The FIDA chairperson in Bayelsa State said, the state government have set-up a legal team led by the Solicitor-General of the state and the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who is a senior member of FIDA.
‘I am also an assistant Chief State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice and being the FIDA Bayelsa chairperson, I will be very useful and happy to be in the state’s legal team to prosecute the suspects’, she explained.
Ogbise-Erhisere explained that the wife of the governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Rachael Dickson has promised to rehabilitate Ese Orure when they met in government house, Yenagoa.
She thanked the governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson and his wife, Rachael for their intervention in the matter and their promise to see to the well-being of Ese in Bayelsa State.
The chairperson noted that the governor and his wife as well as FIDA, Child Protection Network, (CPN), and other civil society organizations condemned this action against the teenage.
She said the organization promise to pursue the matter to a logical conclusion to bring all the perpetrators to book.
Ese Oruru was abducted and forcibly taken to Kano in August, 2015 by a keke driver, Yunusa alias Yellow, was rescued by the Nigeria Police on March 2, 2016.
